The spread of weights and the inconsistent names indicate that quite different platform and stage trailers are filed under this collective page, from small material trailers to larger chassis built for superstructures such as mobile stages or exhibition stands.

When buying a used platform trailer, check the chassis for rust and distortion, the load area for flatness and load capacity, the lashing points for strength, the axle and brake system for function, and – on versions with a superstructure – the hydraulics and wiring for tightness. As no single brand stands behind the designation, spare parts are usually only available as general trailer and chassis components. It is also worth checking the tyres and rims for age, tread depth and load rating, the spare wheel or repair kit and on-board tools, and that the chassis number, type plate and vehicle documents all match.
