Sankey, as GKN Sankey of Telford in Britain, was known for military and utility vehicles. The FV numbering, the Mark generations and the Wide Track version place these Sankey models in the military and public-service fleet, for which rugged, off-road trailers with a widened track and special equipment such as the Tent Trailer were developed.
On a used former military trailer, the condition of the frame and axle after years of field use, rust at attachment points, the tow eye and overrun brake, and the function of the lighting count; registration as a civilian-use trailer should be checked against the papers. A short test drive including a brake check should also not be skipped before purchase.
