Roadex LVS29: heavy EU class O4 trailer with a gross weight of 30,000 kg, a length of 9,920 mm and an unladen weight of 5,950 kg, built in 2006
With a gross weight of 30,000 kg, the Roadex LVS29 falls into EU trailer class O4, the heavy trailers above 10 tonnes. At just under 10 metres in length, the LVS29 sits in the middle length range of heavy trailers.

At a width of 2,550 mm, the LVS29 matches the EU maximum width for road vehicles. An unladen weight of 5,950 kg against a payload of around 24,050 kg gives a ratio typical of medium-length heavy trailers, with payload making up around four-fifths of the gross weight. The 2006 build year places the trailer in a generation of modern compressed-air brake systems and current axle designs.
A towing combination with a trailer of this weight requires a category CE licence. The compressed-air brake system must be matched to the towing vehicle and is checked at the periodic roadworthiness inspection together with the lighting and the trailer coupling. Trailers of this size are often run in interchangeable service with different towing vehicles, which makes standardised brake connectors and electrical plugs particularly important.
When buying a trailer from 2006 second-hand, the brake linings and the compressed-air lines are among the first things to check, since they see heavy wear in continuous commercial use. The frame should be examined around the axle mounts for corrosion and cracks, especially if the trailer was regularly run close to its payload limit. Spare parts for axles, brakes and lighting in this weight class are usually readily available on the open commercial-vehicle parts market.
