As a low-cost alternative to purpose-built panel vans, the Zafira-B Van targeted tradespeople and small businesses wanting car-like handling combined with load space; it competed with the commercial versions of the Renault Scénic and Citroën Xsara Picasso, and with the Citroën Berlingo van.

On a used example, check for rust on the rear wheel arches and tailgate, the condition of the FlexRide chassis, and on the CDTI engines the timing belt or chain and the particulate filter's vulnerability under mostly short-trip use; also inspect the load-floor trim mounting points and the side door seals.
