New Holland midi excavators E50 to E80 – the 5 to 8.5 tonne class from three partnerships: EH50.B of the Fiat-Hitachi era, E50.2SR to E80MSR of the Kobelco alliance, E50B to E80B afterwards, Yanmar and Isuzu engines
Like the minis, New Holland's midi excavators show the group's three partnerships: the EH50.B comes from the Fiat-Hitachi era of the 1990s, the models with SR – E50.2SR, E70SR and E80MSR – from the alliance with Kobelco from 2002 to 2012, where SR stands for Short Radius, the short-tail excavator, and MSR for the version with an even smaller swing radius; the E50B, E70B and E80B are the range New Holland ran under its own management after the alliance ended. The number gives the weight class in hundreds of kilograms – E50 about 5 t, E70 7 t, E80 8.5 t – .2 and B the generations. The engines are Yanmar 4TNV88 in the smaller and Isuzu 4JB1, 4JG1 and 4LE2 in the larger models, the same as in the Kobelco sisters.

The register lists 10 versions with 30.4 to 41.5 kW from four-cylinders of 2,180 to 3,060 cm³ at rated speeds of 2,100 to 2,400 rpm and operating weights from 4,660 to 8,591 kg.
The midi class is the excavator of urban sewer work and rental: heavier than a mini, narrow enough for the street, with short tail for work beside traffic – New Holland served it with Kobelco technology, regarded as particularly quiet.
On used machines, operating hours, play in boom, stick and offset-boom bearings, the condition of undercarriage and tracks, leak-free cylinders and the auxiliary hydraulics count; parts run through CNH, for the SR models with Kobelco part numbers.
