MZKT is a Belarusian manufacturer of heavy, multi-axle wheeled chassis that serve as the basis for special bodies such as heavy-haul transport, crane mounts or tank bodies. Chassis of this kind are not built for general road freight but for tasks that exceed the load capacity of ordinary trucks.

The chassis is powered by a Mercedes-Benz turbodiesel engine of the OM444LA type with 595 kW of output, equivalent to 798 hp. Power is transmitted through an automatic six-speed Allison Transmission gearbox of the M6610R type, of the kind used in heavy vehicles for high reliability under sustained load. At 3,950 mm in vehicle height, the chassis stands well above ordinary trucks, pointing to large ground clearance and a frame designed for very heavy bodies.

Chassis in this power class are used to transport exceptionally heavy or bulky loads, for example in plant construction, the oil and gas industry, or as carriers for crane bodies. The combination of high engine output and automatic power transmission allows operation across changing terrain conditions without the driver having to shift manually all the time.

When buying such a heavy used special chassis, proof of regular maintenance on the engine and transmission matters most, since repairs to a heavy turbodiesel engine and a robust automatic gearbox can be costly. Equally important is checking the frame for deformation that builds up over years of operation under heavy load, as well as the condition of the axles and braking system.
