Mercedes Benz 442.161 / 443.160
1 model in this series
Mercedes-Benz MB trac 1100 (series 442.161/443.160): six-cylinder engine rated at 81 kW, built from March 1976 to August 1986, top speed 25 km/h.
The MB trac 1100, built as model codes 442.161 and 443.160, counts among the early MB-trac models and was produced by Mercedes-Benz at its Gaggenau plant from March 1976 to August 1986, a run of more than a decade. Like the whole line, it follows the system-tractor concept with equal-sized wheels front and rear and a rotating driver's seat.

The water-cooled six-cylinder engine displaces 5,675 cm³ and produces 110 hp (81 kW) at 2,600 rpm with 363 Nm of torque. At an unladen weight of 5,540 kg and a wheelbase of 2,650 mm, the tractor's design top speed is 25 km/h. At 4,680 mm long, 2,500 mm wide and 3,050 mm high, it counts among the larger MB-trac models.
The production run of more than a decade makes the MB trac 1100 one of the longest-built models of the early MB-trac generation. As on the Unimog, portal axles and standard four-wheel drive provide high ground clearance; at 25 km/h the tractor stays well within the 60 km/h limit of the T licence class.
When buying an example built over such a long run, it is worth first establishing the exact specification, since details changed over the years. The tubular frame should be checked for rust at the implement mounting points, and the seat-rotation mechanism for smooth operation. On the hydraulics, check the fittings for leaks. Drivetrain and axle parts are usually still available through Unimog spares suppliers.
