On a used trailer, the condition of the drawbar and overrun coupling, the function of the brake cables, the condition of the axle, wheel bearings and leaf springs, corrosion on frame and sides, and a valid inspection all count; on the closely related AR stages it is worth checking before buying which axle load and brake type the particular example carries. Because the type plates on these stages can easily be mixed up, the technical data should always be checked against the axle and brake actually fitted.
