Kipeva 8.00M: an EU class O4 trailer with a 30,000 kg gross weight, 8.55 m length and a payload of around 21,800 kg for heavy and general freight transport
With a gross weight of 30,000 kg, the Kipeva 8.00M falls into EU trailer class O4, the heavy trailers and semi-trailers above 10 tonnes towed behind powerful tractor units in commercial freight and heavy haulage. Vehicles of this size are built to carry large, enclosed or open load units and place correspondingly high demands on the braking system, axles and frame.

At a kerb weight of 8,200 kg, the payload works out to 21,800 kg, more than two and a half times the vehicle's own weight. Such a ratio is typical of heavy trailers and points to a light but load-bearing frame. At 8.55 m long and 2.50 m wide, the 8.00M sits within the dimensions usual for road approval and axle loads in this class.
In class O4, compressed-air braking is the standard, since the simple overrun brake used on lighter trailers is no longer sufficient at these weights. Trailers of this size are most often built as flatbeds, tippers or platform bodies for building materials, machinery or bulk goods, and require a towing vehicle rated for a correspondingly high permissible trailer weight.
When buying a used trailer of this class, the condition of the air-brake system matters most: air tanks, lines and brake cylinders should be checked for corrosion and leaks. The axle stub, suspension and main frame are equally important, since cracking is not uncommon on heavily used heavy-duty trailers. The most recent roadworthiness inspection and the condition of the coupling should also be checked.
