Karavan Trailers – other models: the collective page of US boat and utility trailers from Fox Lake, Wisconsin, outside the named ranges, 1,796 to 3,000 kg gross weight

Karavan Trailers, founded in 1986 by brothers Mike and Scott Boyd, has been based at its Fox Lake, Wisconsin plant since 1994 and ranks among the larger US manufacturers of boat, watersport and utility trailers. This page gathers the models the register could not assign to a named range, including the base model listed simply as “Boat Trailer” and the alphanumeric types EI-3000-TCB-78 and UST-6650-TB78-12-GL. Karavan builds trailers for boats, jet skis, pontoons, ATVs and snowmobiles, both under its own name and as an original equipment supplier to boat builders.

The register lists here 4 versions with unladen weights of 320 to 575 kg, gross weights of 1,796 to 3,000 kg, lengths of 5,930 to 7,700 mm and widths of 2,430 to 2,550 mm.

The US boat trailer market is heavily shaped by OEM contracts: many boat and pontoon builders fit Karavan chassis at the factory, so the trailers are mostly sold together with the boat rather than separately through the open trade. The wide spread in weight and length reflects a range from light single-axle trailers for fishing boats to tandem-axle units for larger pontoons and sport boats.

On a used boat trailer, check above all the submersible wheel bearings and how regularly they have been greased, the condition of the bunks and support rollers, corrosion on the frame and axles from contact with fresh or salt water, and the function of the lighting, which is often submerged. Spare parts such as axles, couplers and light kits are available through the North American boating accessory trade.
