The name Dieplader is Dutch for low-loader: a trailer with a deeply lowered load bed, used to carry construction machinery, attachments or other bulky equipment. With a gross weight of 27,000 kg, the model falls into EU class O4, the heavy trailers and semi-trailers above 10 tonnes.

Empty, the low-loader weighs 8,460 kg, against a permitted gross weight of 27,000 kg, giving a payload of 18,540 kg. At 13,900 mm long, 2,550 mm wide and with a 9,650 mm wheelbase on eight wheels, it offers a long, low load bed for heavy, bulky goods.

A low-loader of this kind is coupled to the tractor unit via a fifth-wheel or a fixed drawbar, and because of its low deck it usually needs drive-on ramps or a folding rear ramp. The low load level lowers the centre of gravity of the cargo and makes it easier for wheeled equipment such as excavators or wheel loaders to drive on and off, though it also calls for a careful check of ground clearance on uneven terrain.

Buying a used example, the condition of the ramps and their hinges matters most, since they take high point loads in service. The eight wheels and their steering knuckles should be checked for play and uneven wear, as should the frame around the lowered section, where twisting forces act most strongly. Corrosion in the welds of the load tub is a common weak point on older low-loaders.
