Ingersoll Rand is a US industrial group headquartered in Davidson, North Carolina, known above all for compressed-air and compressor technology as well as pumps and material-handling equipment. The brand also covers three-phase motors, listed in the Australian energy-efficiency register as the HJN1 range, spanning a wide power band from small auxiliary drives to motors for larger compressor units. Nameplates such as HJN1 112M-4-4 or HJN1 315L1-2-150 combine IEC frame size, build form, pole count and, on the larger versions, the rated power within the designation.

The register lists here eight versions with 4 to 150 kW, two- to four-pole, full-load efficiencies from 88.1 to 95% and at 75% load from 89.2 to 94.7%. Frame sizes run from 112 to 315 under IEC, protection is IP55 throughout, and rated voltage is 380 to 400 V. Six of the eight motors are mounted in form B35, two in B3. Testing followed the newer 2019 GEMS determination with test method A; despite the comparatively high efficiencies, none of the eight motors here reaches a High Efficiency rating either.

The HJN1 range serves mainly as the drive for Ingersoll Rand's own compressor, pump and material-handling product lines, making it more application-bound than freely marketed standard-motor programmes; the 4 to 150 kW power band covers practically the whole range of the group's products, from a small auxiliary drive to the drive for larger screw compressors.

When buying used, on the larger versions bearing condition and lubrication intervals matter especially, along with a measured winding insulation resistance and the seals at the terminal box and shaft lead-through on IP55 motors used with compressors; on screw-compressor drives it is also worth checking the coupling and alignment to the driven machine. Spares and service run through the Ingersoll Rand distribution network.
