The TC18 is powered by a water-cooled diesel engine producing 18 hp, or 13 kW. Drive is four-wheel, commonly designated MFWD on compact tractors of this class: the front axle is driven in addition to the rear, usually with a slightly smaller gear ratio, improving traction on loose or wet ground without significantly limiting manoeuvrability.
A diesel engine of around 13 kW belongs to the lower power class of compact tractors, built for mowing, hauling light trailers, grounds care and running small implements through the power take-off or a front mount. Four-wheel drive improves traction over a rear-wheel-only version on wet, uneven or sloping ground, common in grounds care and small-scale farming.
When buying such a small compact tractor secondhand, the condition of the front axle differential, drive shafts and joints of the four-wheel-drive system matters most, since these parts carry a higher load under frequent use on uneven ground than on a rear-wheel-only version. Also worth checking are the cooling system, the injection pump and injectors of the diesel engine, and the clutch, gearbox and brakes; for such a small and uncommon model, it is worth checking parts availability before buying.
