Trailers at the upper limit of class O2 are often used for loads that bring some body weight of their own, such as enclosed bodies or vehicles with fitted equipment, while still being towable on a category B or BE licence. The overrun brake needs a correctly adjusted mechanical linkage here so that braking remains sufficient under full load.

When buying used, check the overrun mechanism at the drawbar, where play and corrosion appear first, as well as the chassis at the axle mounts. Brake rods and cables should move freely, and the wheel bearings should show no play. Tyres, lighting and the connector to the towing vehicle also belong in the inspection. The hitch head and its locking mechanism deserve a close look too, since wear there can let the trailer disconnect unexpectedly from the towing vehicle.
