Denka DL 30 – EU class O2 trailer: 3,500 kg gross vehicle weight, 8.78 m long, 1,745 mm wide, narrow long-load trailer, built 2003–2006

With a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kg, the Denka DL 30 falls into EU trailer class O2, trailers between 750 kg and 3.5 tonnes. Trailers in this class usually run on an overrun brake that works purely mechanically through the compressing drawbar, with no separate brake line to the towing vehicle.

The DL 30 was built between 2003 and 2006. Overall length is 8,775 mm, width 1,745 mm – at close to 8.8 m long and only 1.75 m wide, a noticeably narrow, long vehicle for a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kg.

This proportion of great length against modest width is typical of trailers built to carry slender, long-shaped loads such as boats or pipes: the load itself dictates the vehicle's shape here, rather than maximum load volume in width. On such a long drawbar construction, the overrun brake still has to act reliably on both wheels despite the length.

When buying used, such a long, narrow trailer in this class lives or dies on the frame along its full length: check for twist, cracks and rust, especially at the joints between the drawbar and the main frame. The override mechanism must compress and extend smoothly, and brake cables, linings and the reversing lock belong on the checklist along with axle bearings, tyres and tread depth, and lighting. With a 2003 to 2006 build year, also check the spare-parts supply for the brake and axle, as well as the paint condition on the long, exposed drawbar.
