The Feroza competed with the Suzuki Vitara and Daihatsu's own Rocky successor for the segment of small, light SUVs and was valued both off-road and as a nimble city vehicle thanks to its low weight and compact dimensions. In the Netherlands and Britain it also found buyers who valued low running costs and simple, mechanical engineering without electronic driver aids.
On used examples, rust on sills and wheel arches, the tightness of the soft top and hardtop seals, the condition of the transfer case and freewheeling hubs, the carburettor or injection system, and the clutch all count; parts are sourced through Daihatsu importers and the free trade in Japanese SUV parts.
