With lengths of up to 14 metres and gross weights up to 39 tonnes, the SDO semi-trailers rank among the heavy low-loaders used in European road haulage for construction machinery, agricultural equipment and industrial plant, where a low loading height matters for tall or bulky goods.

When buying used, check the frame and main beams for cracks and deformation, the axle assemblies and air suspension, the kingpin and the wear plates of the bearing surface, and the brake system with its connections. On the longer versions, also assess frame torsional stiffness; axles and brake components are supplied by the independent commercial-vehicle parts trade. On the AL versions with an extra axle, check that the load is distributed evenly across all axles. A test of the working lights and the reflective marking required for oversized loads should also be part of the inspection.
