BUDDY STAR Other models

4 models in this series

Buddy Star – other models: the collective page of trailers outside the named ranges, Buddy L, Buddy M, Retro Buddy L and Silver 450, 902 to 1,200 kg unladen weight, lengths up to 6,150 mm

This page gathers the Buddy Star trailers the register could not assign to a named range. The line-up splits into the size steps Buddy L and Buddy M, a retro-styled version called Retro Buddy L, and the Silver 450 type. The size letter and style name point to a programme offering the same basic shape in different trim.

The register lists here 4 versions with unladen weights from 902 to 1,200 kg, gross weights from 1,200 to 2,700 kg, lengths from 4,770 to 6,150 mm and widths from 2,020 to 2,090 mm.

With lengths up to 6,150 mm against an unladen weight from around 900 kg, the larger Buddy Star versions rank among the long but comparatively light trailers used to carry bulky but not extremely heavy loads. The uniform width of around two metres allows use in ordinary road traffic without a special permit.

On a used example of this length, the sag and rust condition of the frame along its full length, the condition of the overrun coupling and brake on the heavier versions, and the age and wear of the tyres all count especially. On the retro version it is also worth checking the paint and trim parts, which on a stylistically distinct model are often harder to replace than technical components. On the Buddy M and smaller versions the coupling head and its fit to the tow ball should also be checked, as the shorter models tend to be used behind a range of different tow vehicles.
