The market is a niche segment within the construction-machinery trade, in which suppliers compete mainly on the performance of the mounted equipment.

When buying a used unit, besides the frame, axle and braking system, the condition of the mounted equipment matters most: the pump, mixer or delivery lines should be checked for wear and tightness, since repairing them is often costlier than repairing the chassis itself. The electrics and hydraulics should be checked for leaks at fittings and hoses; spare parts for the equipment itself are usually only available from specialist construction-machinery suppliers.
