BAILEY Other models

The register lists 41 versions here with unladen weights from 678 to 1,573 kg, gross vehicle weights from 770 to 1,760 kg and widths from 2,020 to 2,450 mm; lengths are recorded from 6,500 to 7,930 mm.

Caravans of this weight class can be towed as O2 trailers on a standard car licence and are aimed at families and couples travelling with a fixed structure rather than a motorhome; Bailey competes here with British and European makers such as Swift, Elddis and Hobby. The spread from just under 700 kg to nearly 1.6 tonnes unladen reflects decades of range positioning, from compact touring models to larger family layouts.

Buying used, check above all for damp in the floor, walls and roof, which can be tested with a moisture meter at windows, roof vents and the drawbar locker, plus the condition of the axle, overrun brake and jockey wheel. Also check the gas system and water heater, seals on windows and doors, and the condition of the furniture and upholstery inside.
