At 3,500 kg gross weight, the Multi Transporter sits at the upper limit of category O2 and is usually built with an overrun brake. For registration behind a car, besides the trailer's gross weight the tow vehicle's rated towing capacity is also decisive; for a combination above 3.5 tonnes, code 96 or a category BE licence is additionally required.

Buying one second-hand, the condition of the axle and wheel bearings, the function of the overrun brake and its linkage, rust on the frame and drawbar, and the condition of lighting and the plug all matter. On a vehicle designed as a multi-purpose trailer, it is also worth checking mounting points, ramps or superstructures if any have been fitted, as well as the condition and age of the tyres.
