Valtra T174E – a large tractor from Suolahti: a six-cylinder engine at 130 to 157 kW, A to H variants, Finland's AGCO brand
Valtra builds the T series at the Suolahti plant in Finland, the home site of the former Valmet brand, which became Valtra after merging with the Swedish maker Sisu and has belonged to AGCO since 2004. The T174E sits in the upper power class of the T series and is offered in several specification variants, identifiable by letter suffixes such as A, D and H for different cab and transmission fittings. It is powered by a six-cylinder diesel engine.

The register lists here 5 versions with 130 to 157 kW from six-cylinders of 7,365 cm³, unladen weights of 7,300 kg at a gross vehicle weight of 13,500 kg, lengths of 5,140 to 5,793 mm and a width of 2,550 mm.
The T series forms the backbone of Valtra's large-tractor line-up and competes with Fendt's Vario series, John Deere's 6000/7000 series and Massey Ferguson's upper class; in Scandinavia and the Baltic states Valtra is among the best-selling brands in the large-tractor segment.
When buying used, what counts is operating hours, the condition of the hydraulic pump and PTO, the tightness of the cab mounting and suspension, and the service history of the transmission; spare parts run through Valtra's AGCO dealer network. On the A, D and H variants it is also worth checking the condition and wear of the respective cab equipment and the service history of the six-cylinder engine.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
