N101 Classic (N101 series) by Valtra: six-cylinder SISU diesel engine rated at 82 kW (110 hp), built in Finland within the maker's line-up of the time.
Valtra traditionally builds its N-series tractors in Finland and, as with the N101 Classic, often relies on engines from the equally Finnish maker SISU, a company the tractor builder is closely tied to.

The N101 Classic is powered by a SISU engine delivering 82 kW (110 hp). The tractor has mechanical front-wheel drive (MFWD) and water cooling, as is common for modern standard tractors in this power class.
Four-wheel-drive tractors of this power class cover the full range of field work through the three-point linkage to ISO 730 and the 540 or 1,000 rpm power take-off, with the four-wheel drive providing extra pulling power on difficult ground compared with rear-drive-only models.
On a used N101 Classic, it is worth checking the four-wheel-drive components for wear and play, as well as the SISU engine for oil consumption and compression. The water-cooling system should also be checked for tightness and scale build-up, since these are the usual weak points on water-cooled engines of this type. Complete documentation of earlier repairs further helps in judging the machine's true condition. Hoses and lines should also be checked for material fatigue after so many years of service. A test drive and a check of every lever and control also belong to a thorough inspection. The overall condition of the paint and sheet metal also gives clues about how the machine was stored over the years.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
