The AC designation stands for Tadano's all-terrain cranes, built on their own road-legal carrier. They are produced at the former Faun plant in Lauf an der Pegnitz, which the Japanese crane maker Tadano took over in the 1990s and initially ran as Tadano Faun before the brand was unified to Tadano. The type logic is consistent throughout: the digit before the point gives the axle count, the number after it the maximum lifting capacity in tonnes – the AC 3.045-1 is a three-axle crane rated at 45 tonnes, the AC 7.450-1 a seven-axle crane rated at 450 tonnes. The suffix "City" marks compact urban cranes with a short wheelbase for tight site access, and "-1" the design generation.
