The Boxer is the Peugeot version of the large Sevel van built since 1994 at the Atessa plant in Abruzzo together with the Fiat Ducato and Citroën Jumper; it replaced the J5, which was already based on the same partnership. The first generation ran until 2006 with the 1.9 and 2.5 litre diesels and, from 2000, the first 2.0 and 2.2 HDi engines, the second generation from 2006 with 2.2 HDi, 3.0 HDi and later BlueHDi; the electric e-Boxer has existed since 2020, and with the move from PSA to Stellantis the range was updated again in 2024.

The register reflects two naming systems: in the first generation 270, 290, 310, 320 and 350 stand for gross weight in tens of kilograms (270 = 2.7 t, 350 = 3.5 t), followed by C for panel van, CS for the short van, M for the medium length and DC or 'Dub.Cab' for the crew cab; in the second generation L1H1 to L4H3 describe length and height. Values run from 1,300 to 3,360 kg unladen, 2,479 to 3,500 kg gross, 1,900 to 2,999 cm³ with four cylinders and 4,660 to 7,400 mm long; recorded outputs lie between 51 and 120 kW.
Among the triplets the Boxer is often the cheapest route to the same body – for motorhomes, refrigerated vans and trade conversions the base is identical to the Ducato.
On used examples: check the timing chain and turbocharger on second-generation 2.2 HDi engines, the cooling system on the 3.0 HDi, and rust at the sliding-door track and rear door frame on all Sevel vans.
