John Deere's wheeled excavators represent the group's European and Asian construction-equipment arm, whose wheeled machines, unlike the North American crawler excavators, are not fitted with Deere's own engines but with Isuzu diesels: the smaller models with the four-cylinder CC-4JG1, the mid-range with the 4HK1X and 4BG1XABFA, the largest model with the six-cylinder 6BG1T. The type logic orders size roughly in ascending order through the number – from the small 75C to the large 220DW – the letters C and D mark successive series generations, and W stands for the wheeled version as against the crawler one. The wheeled excavator drives on the road between sites instead of needing to be transported, and works with outrigger pads in inner-city civil engineering.
