The Iseki Big T 855 belongs to the Big T series. The engine delivers 85 hp (63 kW). The engine is water-cooled. The model was built in Beauvais, France. The fuel is diesel. The Big T series covers 11 models. Rated output within it ranges from 85 to 200 hp; the Big T 855 sits at the bottom of that range with 85 hp. Its immediate neighbours are the Big T 88 above it with 88 hp. 411 Iseki models across 17 series are on record.

Iseki Big-T 70 to Big-T 8200 – the big tractors of the Japanese compact specialist: Big-T for the range over 80 hp, the number as power and generation step, Perkins and Sisu engines, 63 to 150 kW, 85 to 200 hp

The Big-T was Iseki's attempt to grow beyond the compact class: the maker from Matsuyama, Japan's third big tractor builder after Kubota and Yanmar, brought a range of field tractors between 85 and 200 hp to market in the 1990s and 2000s – Big-T as the name for the big T range, built with bought-in engines from Perkins and Sisu because Iseki's own engines ended at 4.4 litres. The type logic: Big-T marks the range, the number the power and generation step – Big-T 70 and Big-T 88 the early models around 85 to 90 hp, Big-T 851 to Big-T 951 the mid-range, Big-T 5085, Big-T 7135 and Big-T 8200 the later generation with four-digit types whose last digits give the hp class (7135 about 135 hp, 8200 about 200 hp). The machines were sold above all in Japan for large farms on Hokkaido and in Asia; in Europe Iseki stayed with the compact class.

The register lists 11 versions with 63 to 150 kW, 85 to 200 hp, with engines from Perkins and Sisu.

The Big-T shows the limit of the Japanese makers in tractor building: for the class over 100 hp the own engines were lacking, and Iseki later sourced big tractors from Massey Ferguson, as conversely AGCO sources the compacts from Iseki – a partnership that has existed since the 1990s.

Used Big-Ts are practically not to be found in Europe; in Japan operating hours, Perkins or Sisu engine (parts through their networks), transmission and hydraulics and Iseki parts supply for the machine count.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
