IMT was Yugoslavia's most important tractor maker and supplied farming across the Balkans as well as export markets in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa for decades. After Yugoslavia's break-up and subsequent economic crises, the brand remained a byword for robust, easily maintained tractors with long parts compatibility across many model years.
When buying used, the older ranges call for checking the condition of the IMR engine and injection pump, rust on wings and cab, the state of the hydraulics and power take-off, and cooling-system tightness; the newer 5000 and 2000 series additionally need gearbox and rear-axle seals checked, along with the availability of licensed Perkins or Deutz parts, since genuine IMR parts have become harder to source.
