Hamm H5i, H7i and the 3000 series — what the labels mean
Hamm's range roughly splits into two numbering systems: the four-digit 3000 series (such as 3205, 3410 or 3412) for classic rollers, and the newer H series with a size number and often an added i, as in H5i or H7i.

The lowercase i marks Hamm's “intelligent” equipment level, such as the optional HCQ (Hamm Compaction Quality) compaction measurement that displays compaction progress on a cab screen. The number after the letter marks the weight class: the H 5i is listed with an operating weight of around 4.5 tonnes, the H 7i around 8 tonnes, both fitted with a 73-horsepower Kubota diesel engine.
The older 3000 series covers a wider field, from compact jobsite rollers to heavy earthwork machines; models such as 3307, 3411 or 3414 mark different weight and drum-width classes within the series.
Within the collective entry the range runs from around 14 kW for small rollers up to operating weights around 24.8 tonnes for the largest machines. When buying used, drum condition, the seal integrity of the vibration bearings and the articulated-steering joint matter as much as the hour meter.
In short: 3000-series numbers mark the classic line, H models with an added i mark the newer, electronically equipped generation — and in both cases the number after the letter shows the weight class.
