ATF stands for "All Terrain Faun" and denotes the all-terrain telescopic cranes that replaced the earlier Krupp and Faun crane range from the 1980s onward. The type designation gives the maximum lift capacity in tonnes before the G and the number of axles after it – the ATF 220G-5 a crane with 220 tonnes lift capacity on five axles, the ATF 40G-2 a compact two-axle crane with 40 tonnes.
