Deutz-Fahr INTRAC 2004: air-cooled four-cylinder implement carrier with central driving position, 3,768 cm³ displacement, 70 hp (51.2 kW) and 3,200 kg weight
Deutz-Fahr developed the INTRAC range as an implement carrier that combines the tasks of a classic tractor with those of a mounted-implement carrier. Unlike an ordinary field tractor, the driver sits above the front axle, leaving space between the axles for front- and mid-mounted implements.

The four-cylinder diesel engine with 3,768 cm³ displacement is air-cooled and produces 70 hp, or 51.2 kW, at 2,300 rpm. At 3,200 kg weight, 3,560 mm length, 2,025 mm width and 2,760 mm height, the INTRAC 2004 is wider than a comparably heavy standard tractor, a result of the central driving position and equally sized wheels at all four corners.
With a top speed of 30 km/h, the INTRAC 2004 falls into driving licence category L (up to 40 km/h). Equally sized wheels front and rear, together with the centrally positioned driver's seat, allow front, mid and rear implements to be operated alike, which makes the carrier well suited to maintenance work between row crops and to municipal use.
When buying an INTRAC, check the condition of the mid-mounting bays and their brackets, which see more wear than on a standard tractor from frequent implement changes. Also check the constant-velocity joints of the four-wheel steering, the condition of the air-cooled cylinder fins, and the hydraulic couplings for front- and mid-mounted implements.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
