BT Industries of Mjölby in Sweden was Europe's big maker of warehouse equipment – pallet trucks, stackers, reach trucks – but never a builder of counterbalance forklifts. After the takeover by Toyota in 2000 the group filled that gap with Toyota trucks under the BT badge, and exactly those machines are in the register: the 4Y, 1DZ and 3Z engines are Toyota industrial engines, the John Deere 4045D powers the big models. The type logic is simple: DT stands for diesel, GT for gas (LPG), the number for the capacity in hundreds of kilograms – DT15 carries 1.5 t, GT35 3.5 t – N marks the narrow version, P the version with a larger load centre. The C4 models (C4D150D to C4D500E, C4G150D to C4G200D) are the later series on the same pattern: C4 for the class, D or G for the drive, the three-digit number for the capacity in tens of kilograms – a C4D500E carries 5 t.

Since 2006 the group has traded as Toyota Material Handling; the BT brand lives on for warehouse equipment, while the counterbalance trucks now carry the Toyota name – a BT DT25 is technically a Toyota 7FD25.
On used trucks, operating hours, play in the mast, the condition of chains and forks, the gas system on LPG models and, on all, parts supply, which is unproblematic through Toyota dealers, are what count.
