McCormick – from a Chicago Harvester Works to an Italian Tractor Maker
The McCormick Harvesting Machine Company built reapers in Chicago from 1847. In 1902 it merged into the newly formed International Harvester, alongside Deering and three smaller manufacturers. Tractors were first sold as McCormick-Deering, later simply as McCormick in Europe, while in the US they were renamed International. One example is the England-built diesel B-414 (1961–1966), successor to the B-275, with a larger bore and, from 1962, also a petrol version. In 1985, International Harvester sold its farm-equipment division; since 2007 McCormick has been built as an independent brand in Fabbrico, Italy. Listed in the register: the B-414 and XTX185.
