This page gathers light DAF vehicles the register could not assign to a named range – from small car to light van. DAF (Van Doorne's Automobiel Fabriek) of Eindhoven became known chiefly for the Variomatic, a continuously variable belt transmission unveiled in 1958 and fitted in series for the first time in the DAF 600, which powered the DAF 33 and DAF 44 with their air-cooled flat-twin engines; the larger DAF 55 and the last independent DAF car, the DAF 66, followed until 1975, when Volvo took over the car division and continued the line as the Volvo 66, while DAF henceforth concentrated on commercial vehicles. The DAF Pony, a light off-road utility vehicle based on DAF 44 mechanicals, also dates from this period. In the 1980s DAF also briefly sold the DAF 400 light van, a version based on the Sevel platform (Fiat Ducato, Citroën C25, Peugeot J5) aimed at the Dutch market.

The Variomatic models were, with their continuously variable transmission, technically ahead of their time and are still sought after today by enthusiasts of classic Dutch small cars; the DAF 400, by contrast, marks a brief, little-known foray by the brand into the van market.

On the Variomatic models, the condition of drive belt and variator counts, along with rust in the floor pan and sills and the availability of parts through clubs and specialists; on the DAF 400, the checkpoints largely match those of the identically built Sevel vans.
