Zelfbouw is Dutch for “self-build” and not a manufacturer: the registration authority RDW keeps the term in the manufacturer field when a trailer was built by its keeper, a farmer or a small business and registered through an individual inspection (individuele keuring) at an RDW test centre – the route prescribed in the Netherlands for every braked trailer over 750 kg gross weight, because these trailers carry a registration plate of their own.
