White Farm Equipment was formed in 1969 when the White Motor Corporation of Cleveland combined the tractor divisions of Oliver, Minneapolis-Moline and Cockshutt and continued production at the former Oliver plant in Charles City, Iowa; since 1993 the brand rights have belonged to AGCO. In the Field Boss range the first digit before the hyphen gives the drive type – 2 for two-wheel-drive types such as the 2-70, 4 for the four-wheel-drive articulated tractors such as the 4-210 and 4-270 – and the following number the power class; Workhorse and Fieldmaster are separate ranges, and under the name American White sold Iseki-built compact tractors, while the GT-1650 Yard Boss is a lawn tractor. The engines come from Cummins, Caterpillar, Perkins, Isuzu and Iseki as well as White's own White-Hercules production.
