The WEG K23 EXNE2 is a three-phase induction motor from the WEG range. The rated output is 3 kW. The motor is four-pole, which at 50 Hz gives a synchronous speed of 1,500 rpm. The rated voltage is 415 V. The housing is frame size 100 L in foot-mounted form. The protection class is IP55. The efficiency is 87.6 per cent at full load, 86.6 per cent at 75 per cent load and 84.1 per cent at half load. The motor weighs 45 kg. At full load it delivers 19.58 Nm. The motor is built in Brazil. The figures come from the Australian MEPS register under standard AS/NZS 1359.5:2004; measured to IEC 60034-2-1 (Edition 2.0). Rated output across the WEG range ranges from 0.75 to 160 kW; the K23 EXNE2 sits at the bottom of that range with 3 kW. Its immediate neighbours are the W21 K15TAC below it with 2.2 kW and the A070556678 above it with 3.7 kW. 433 WEG models are on record. The model is listed under Electric motors. 24 verified figures from 1 source are on file.

WEG K23 – three-phase standard motor from the Brazilian maker in Jaraguá do Sul: MEPS register, 3 kW, four-pole, 415 V, IP55 protection, frame sizes 100 to 112

WEG was founded in 1961 in Jaraguá do Sul in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina and is today one of the world's largest electric motor makers, with manufacturing in Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, China and India. This page gathers the five versions of the K23 range listed in the Australian MEPS register – ALE2, BRKLE2, EXDE2, EXNE2 and STDE2 – a small three-phase standard motor that WEG carries in its own catalogue as an IEC frame size.

The register lists here five versions with 3 kW rated output, four-pole, for a 415 V supply. Full-load efficiency runs from 87.4 to 87.6%, and at 75% load from 86.6 to 87.4%. Protection is IP55 throughout, frame sizes run from 100 to 112, and manufacturing takes place in Brazil. Testing followed AS/NZS 1359.5:2004 with test method B; under the GEMS classification, none of the five versions reaches a High Efficiency Level. The mounting codes cover practically the whole spectrum, from the foot forms B3, B5, B14, B34 and B35 through B6, B7 and B8 to the flange and vertical forms V1, V3, V5, V6, V15, V18, V19 and V36.

Motors of this power class drive small pumps, fans, conveyor belts and compressors in industry and trade; in this lower power segment WEG competes with ABB, Siemens and Toshiba for applications where ruggedness and availability count more than efficiency class.

When buying used, what matters is bearing condition and a checked insulation resistance of the winding, visible corrosion or overheating marks on the terminal box and fan cover, the condition of shaft and key, and a legible nameplate with frame size, pole count and protection rating; anyone wanting to run the motor on a variable-speed drive should check its suitability beforehand. Spares run through the WEG distribution network.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does the WEG K23 EXNE2 have?

The WEG K23 EXNE2 delivers 3 kW.

What to check before buying

  • Match the data plate against the order: frame size, mounting and rating have to agree.
  • Check the ingress rating against the installation site — outdoors or in dust the demands differ.
  • Hold the mounting form and dimensions against the existing seat before ordering.
  • The pole count sets the speed — when replacing an older unit, compare this first.
  • For used units, ask about winding condition and bearing play.
  • Ask about parts availability for this series — the running costs hang on it.
