The Volvo FE has been the distribution-truck range between the lighter FL and the heavy long-haul FH since 2006, designed for urban and regional transport in the 18 to 26 t weight class. The type logic follows Volvo's usual pattern: a two-digit number before the slash denotes the axle configuration (42 for 4x2, 62 for 6x2, 64 for 6x4), R and T distinguish rigid chassis and tractor unit, and EEV and HYBRID mark the emissions stage or hybrid drive respectively. The engines are Volvo's own six-cylinders from the D7 and D8 families.
