Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery is the Indian joint venture of Tata Motors and Hitachi Construction Machinery, with its main plant in Kharagpur near Kolkata. The company grew out of the former Tata subsidiary Telco Construction Equipment, which later became the joint venture with Hitachi. The midi excavators covered here follow two type logics: EX for the older Hitachi range and ZAXIS for the global Hitachi platform rolled out from the 2000s, with LC marking the long-chassis undercarriage and K the compact-tail version.
