The Premium replaced the older Renault AE and R ranges in the heavy segment in 1996, covering both long-haul transport (Premium Route) and urban distribution (Premium Distribution) at Renault Trucks. The three-digit number in the type designation (210 to 460) denotes the approximate power in metric horsepower, followed by codes for axle configuration and chassis variant; the Premium was powered throughout by six-cylinder DCi common-rail diesels. The range ended in 2013 in favour of the new Renault T, which has carried the brand's heavy programme since.
