New Holland mini excavators EH15 to EH35, E9SR to E40.2SR and E18B to E35 – three origins: Fiat-Hitachi, the Kobelco alliance and the own E series, 6 to 32 kW
New Holland's mini excavators bear the traces of three partnerships, and the type designations sort them. The EH models (EH15.B, EH27.B, EH30.B, EH35.B) come from the Fiat-Hitachi era of the 1990s, when the group built excavators together with Hitachi – the number gives the weight class in hundreds of kilograms. The E-SR models (E9SR to E40.2SR) come from the alliance with Kobelco from 2002 to 2012: SR stands for Short Radius, the short-tail excavator, .2 for the second generation. The E models without SR (E15, E16, E18, E18B, E27, E27B, E30, E35) are the range New Holland continued under its own management after the alliance ended. The register lists 21 versions; the minis run from 6 to about 30 kW from two- to four-cylinders of 523 to 2,200 cm³ – Yanmar 3TNE68, 3TNE74, 3TNV82 and 3TNV88, Mitsubishi L3E in the smallest model – at rated speeds of 2,000 to 2,400 rpm and operating weights from 1,060 to 4,440 kg.
The Kobelco era brought the short tail as standard and the cabs that still shape New Holland today; the sister models ran at Case as the CX-B range, as the identical Yanmar engines in both register rows show.
On used machines, operating hours, play in boom and stick pins, the condition of undercarriage and rubber tracks, leak-free cylinders and swivel joint and parts supply, which for the SR models runs through CNH and Kobelco part numbers, are what count.
