Two siblings stand beside the Actros and are often confused: the Arocs is the construction and heavy-haulage version with a reinforced frame, the Antos was the distribution version for heavy local work. All three share large parts of their engineering and the numbering system. Anyone looking for a tipper or mixer should include the Arocs in the search.

The Actros has been built since 1996 and renewed in several stages, known in the market as MP1 to MP5. These codes rarely appear in listings, yet they shape parts availability and equipment more than the type number does. With two vehicles carrying identical designations, first registration decides which stage you are looking at.
