Linde heavy trucks H 100 to H 520 and container handlers C 80 to C 4230: 8 to 52 tonnes capacity, six-cylinder diesels, hydrostatic drive
This series gathers Linde's heavy class: the diesel trucks H 100 to H 520 with 10 to 52 tonnes capacity and the C-series container handlers for empty and laden containers, as found in ports, steelworks, sawmills, concrete plants and heavy-goods handling. On the H models the type number gives the capacity in hundreds of kilograms – H 160 is 16 tonnes – and the suffix after the slash the load centre distance in millimetres (H 160/1200 carries 16 t at 1,200 mm instead of the usual 600 mm). In the C series the number stands for the type: C 80 for empty containers, C 360 and C 400 for laden containers of 36 or 40 tonnes, the number after the slash for the stacking height in containers (C 400/5 stacks five high).

The register lists 33 versions with capacities from 8,000 to 52,000 kg and service weights from 14,098 to 70,280 kg; width runs from 2,512 to 4,182 mm. They are powered by six-cylinder diesels of 5,981 to 11,700 cm³ – recorded are Perkins 1106C-E60TA, Cummins QSM11 and Deutz units (DI 956A, DI 1252A) with rated speeds of 2,100 to 2,500 rpm.
Linde's hallmark is the hydrostatic drive the company has used in forklifts since the 1950s: no gearbox, no torque converter, stepless starting and reversing through the hydraulics alone – with 50-tonne loads an argument for delicate manoeuvring and low brake wear.
On used trucks, operating hours relative to duty (port work is harder than warehousing), the condition of hydraulic pumps and drive motors, mast and carriage for wear and cracks, and the tyres count – heavy trucks of this class run on solid or bias-ply tyres whose replacement costs a high four-figure sum.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
