The register lists here 75 versions with 140 to 4,290 kW rated output at 1,500 to 2,100 rpm, from four- to 20-cylinders (54 V-configuration, 21 inline) with 126 to 175 mm bore and 150 to 215 mm stroke; maximum torque ranges from 990 to 22,759 Nm. Among the emission stages, Tier 4 (Final or Phase-in) with 38 and the older Tier 2 with 35 versions are nearly balanced; the power category above 560 kW under 40 CFR 1039 dominates with 57 versions, supplemented by a single version in the narrow intermediate 560 to 900 kW category.

As one of the world's largest family-owned construction-machinery groups, Liebherr uses these large engines chiefly in its own mining haul trucks, crawler excavators and cranes; the parallel production of its own drivetrains alongside the classic construction-machinery and crane business is unusual compared with Caterpillar, Komatsu and Hitachi, which rely predominantly on outside engines from Cummins or MTU.

On a used purchase of these large engines, the documented service history of the turbocharger and injection system matters, along with the condition of the cooling circuit and, depending on model year, oil consumption and compression values on the older Tier 2 versions without exhaust aftertreatment; given the high downtime costs of large engines, it is worth checking the full service record before purchase.
