Liebherr D934 – four-cylinder diesel engine from Bulle, Switzerland: EPA nonroad certification, 129 to 200 kW, waste-gate turbocharger, Tier 4 Final and Interim Tier 4, model years 2012 to 2026
Liebherr, founded in 1949 by Hans Liebherr, is a family-run engineering group that develops and builds a substantial share of the diesel engines for its own construction and mining machinery in-house rather than buying them in. The engines are built at the Liebherr Machines Bulle SA plant in Bulle, Switzerland. This page gathers the versions of the D934 range, a four-cylinder diesel engine in the mid-power segment of Liebherr's own engine programme.

The register lists here five versions (D934 A7, D934 A7 SCR, D934 A7-04, D934 A7-24, D934 A7-25) with 129 to 200 kW rated output at 1,800 to 2,000 rpm, as a four-cylinder inline engine with 122 mm bore and 150 mm stroke. The turbocharger is a waste-gate design, injection is direct, and the specified fuel is low-sulphur diesel at 7 to 15 ppm sulphur. Emission stages run from Interim Tier 4 to Tier 4 (Final or Phase-in), model years from 2012 to 2026; one of the five versions is explicitly marked SCR for selective catalytic reduction exhaust aftertreatment. Maximum torque ranges from 802 to 1,265 Nm at 1,350 to 1,500 rpm.
The D934 chiefly powers Liebherr's own construction machines, such as mobile excavators, crawler excavators and wheel loaders in the mid-power segment; in-house engine development sets Liebherr apart from competitors that mostly rely on engines from Cummins, Deutz or Caterpillar.
On a used purchase, operating hours and service history count, the condition of the waste-gate turbocharger, the tightness of the charge-air ducting, the condition of injector nozzles and high-pressure lines, and, on the SCR version, the condition and dosing of the exhaust aftertreatment along with the AdBlue system; since the engine is mostly fitted in Liebherr's own machines, service history usually runs through the manufacturer's own customer service.

What to check before buying
- Match the data plate against the order: frame size, mounting and rating have to agree.
- For used units, ask about winding condition and bearing play.
- Ask about parts availability for this series — the running costs hang on it.
