Tier 4 (Final or Phase-in) forms the majority with 24 variants ahead of Interim Tier 4 with 10 and Tier 2 with one; the 130–560 kW power category is the most common with 12 variants, followed by above 560 kW with 7 and 75–130 kW with 6.

When buying used, SAA engines call for a check of common-rail system and turbocharger tightness and the condition of the charge air cooler, while the large QSK engines additionally need the service history of injection pumps and cylinder liners checked; oil consumption, coolant level and, on variable-geometry turbochargers, their response behaviour also matter.
