The John Deere 9RX is the range of four-track big tractors built in Waterloo, Iowa, the traditional home of John Deere's large field tractors; the range spans the 9RX 490, 540, 590, 640, 710, 770 and 830, whose number denotes the approximate power class in horsepower. Unlike the articulated wheeled tractors of the 9R range, the 9RX stands on four separate rubber-track undercarriages instead of wheels, which increases the contact area and lowers ground pressure compared with wheeled tractors of the same output.
