CJ stands for Civilian Jeep, the civilian continuation of the wartime Willys MB after the Second World War. Willys-Overland launched the first CJ in 1945, the range passed via Kaiser-Jeep to American Motors (1970) and was built until 1986 at the Toledo, Ohio plant, in versions from the short CJ-5 through the CJ-7 to the pickup-bodied CJ-8.
