JCB's forklifts are two layouts: the rough-terrain trucks 926, 930 and 940 with rear mast and big tyres for builders' yards, sawmills and construction sites, and the Teletruk JCB presented in 1997 – a truck with telescopic boom instead of mast that pushes the load forward and thus reaches the whole load bed from one side of the lorry. The type logic: on the rough-terrain trucks the number gives the capacity class – 926 about 2.6 t, 930 3 t, 940 4 t – on the Teletruk TLT stands for Teletruk, the number for the capacity in hundreds of kilograms (TLT25 2.5 t, TLT30 3 t, TLT35 3.5 t), D for diesel drive as against petrol and LPG engines for indoor use, HL for the high-lift version and 4x4 for all-wheel drive. The engines come from JCB itself (EcoMax 2.2 litre and Dieselmax), Kohler (KDI 2504 to stage IV) and Perkins (404 of 2.2 litres) as well as GM petrol engines of 3.0 litres for the gas versions, at 2,000 to 2,600 rpm.

The Teletruk is a JCB invention without a direct competitor: in drinks warehouses, builders' merchants and recycling yards it replaces the forklift that has to drive around the lorry; the rough-terrain trucks compete with Manitou and Sellick.
