The two-digit suffix alone therefore does not reveal whether a truck has four or six cylinders — that depends on the gross weight bracket and model year.

The upper end of the Iveco Daily range — the 50C, 65C and 70C variants — technically also falls into class N2, even though it belongs to the Daily rather than the Eurocargo model family. Iveco offers the Daily up to a gross vehicle weight of 7.2 t, which puts it above the 3.5-tonne threshold separating light vans from medium-duty trucks. Within the Eurocargo range itself, the type codes span more than class N2: variants such as the 180E28, with an 18.0-tonne gross vehicle weight, already belong to the heavy N3 class. That means vehicles sold under the single 'Eurocargo' name span more than one type-approval class, so the first number in the type code is a more reliable reference point than the model name alone.

When buying used, it is worth checking the type designation against the gross vehicle weight stated on the registration document — the two should match, since a previous owner downrating the tonnage does not automatically change the code on the vehicle. The power suffix alone also says nothing about actual payload, which depends further on the body's kerb weight. Anyone looking specifically for a four- or six-cylinder engine should not rely on the type code but check the engine code and displacement on the registration document or on the engine itself.
